Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer: Really That Good?

Hello loves,
I’m almost done with my exams but I thought it would be nice to publish another review since it has been awhile. Today, I’m going to be reviewing the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer! Probably the most hyped concealer as of late!

First of all, I would like to congratulate MUR for coming out with 18 shades! I have read that they will expand their line soon with another 7 shades so the total will be 25 shades! I feel like they showed that every company (depending on how known and big they are) can come out with a wide variety of shades and be inclusive if they really want to. Makeup Revolution is a drugstore brand and doesn’t have as big of a budget like Tarte Cosmetics, Too Faced, Dior,… but they showed that it isn’t a mission impossible! A big bonus to this concealer is, like always with Makeup Revolution, the price! The Conceal and Define Concealer retails for £4/€4.95 and you can find it on TamBeauty, Superdrug or Boozyshop!

The packaging is really simple but pretty at the same time with the rose gold colour. It does look a bit chunky but oh well. This concealer has a big doe-foot applicator. I compared it to my favourite concealer from Catrice and you can see the difference in size. The doe foot is massive. Personally, I’m not a fan of the size. I feel like it takes up too much product because of that, you run out this concealer pretty quickly and you will have to repurchase it every 2-3 weeks if you use it every day. I have the lightest colour, which is C1!

I feel so bad to write and publish this but I have to be honest when it comes to reviewing products, even if everyone likes a certain product. The Conceal and Define concealer by Makeup Revolution just doesn’t work for me. While it is very easy and effortless to blend, it doesn’t seem to spread out the pigment of the concealer evenly. I’m not talking about the concealer itself because that spreads out really well but the pigment inside the concealer doesn’t distribute the same, which is so weird. Pigmentation wise, it is very nicely pigmented and you can build it up to full coverage, but like I said your left with some parts being completely covered and other parts skipped over.

The formula feels quite thick and heavy under my eyes and not comfortable and weightless. I can feel it sitting on top of my eyelids and it creases really quickly, even when I set it with powder. However, those things I can manage, I can apply a little less product, I can build it up, etcetera. My biggest issue with this concealer is the fact that my under eyes look so dry after 5 minutes. The product balls up, clings to dry patches and doesn’t make me look healthy but dehydrated and not well looked after and that’s not the look I’m going for.

Here are some before and after pictures with the concealer:

Now, I do want to mention that my skin type is very dry and this might be the reason why The Conceal and Define Concealer by Makeup Revolution doesn’t work. I think it might work better if you’re slightly less dry than me and for sure for a normal to oily skin type! I have tried my best for the past couple of weeks to make this work but it didn’t and I am sorry for the negative review but I have to be honest.

Will you be picking up this concealer? Or do you have it and what are your thoughts?
Lots of love and see you next time!

  4. I have been using it for the passed week and I like it …the only two two things I don’t like about it is that it’s a bit on the heavy side and it dries off quicker than I would like. I can understand it not working for u kz of your dry skin but great review ..mine will be up soon

I’ve also noticed that it dries down pretty quickly, so you have to be fast when blending! It’s a shame that it doesn’t work for my skin type but it’s amazing that it works for you! I’ll keep my eye out for your review! x

  5. Yeah …I don’t highlight all my areas at once. I go for my under eyes first and then Blend, Then my chin, bridge of my nose and the forehead. I once watched a YouTube highlighter her whole face and then struggle to blend kz it dried out lol ….

  8. With my recent experience and after experimenting with it , I noticed that the concealer don’t like anything dry. Anything that’s dry or mate doesn’t work well with this concealer….maybe you should try using a hydrating primer if you are using this product.

    1. Yeah, I totally agree with you! I have already tried the concealer a few times with a hydrating primer but it still doesn’t work for me. It’s so unfortunate x
