Melt Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Voyeur

Hey loves,
It has been a while since I have done a lipstick review. Today I want to show you a lipstick that I have had in my collection for quite some time but I forgot to review it. So without further ado, the review!

For the price of €16,50 (currently on Beauty Bay) you get 4.05 grams. Melt Cosmetics currently offers 14, quite unique, shade options with colours such as grey, blue and mustards. The packaging is surprisingly very cheap feeling. The material of the tube is very light and thin black plastic. Compared to other ‘high-end’ lipsticks such as MAC and Urban Decay, which are about the same price tag, I feel like the packaging could be a bit more luxurious. Even Essence and Catrice have better packaging. This truly feels like kids makeup. I was very disappointed when I first felt the packaging but in the end, the inside is what matters. Unfortunately, I won’t continue with good news.

“A bold Lipstick. Available in fourteen shades with a range of matte, iridescent and metallic finishes, Melt Cosmetics Lipstick is an essential addition to your makeup bag. Gliding over the lips, coating them in smooth, wearable colour, this on-trend lipstick is smudge-resistant and easy to apply.” – Melt Cosmetics via Beauty Bay

Voyeur is described as a ‘Glazed Pecan’. I definitely see where they were coming from. This shade is quite mustardy with hints of brown but can pull grey at the same time. At least on my skin tone. I very much enjoy the shade of this lipstick. It’s quite neutral and compliments every look or colour combination on the eyes. However, here’s the bad news. I don’t enjoy the formula at all. The texture of this lipstick is very stiff and not creamy. Opposed to gliding on the lips, it actually tugs on them. The formula also feels very thick and heavy on the lips, not comfortable at all. The finish is very matte and very drying. The finish is just unflattering because you can see each line of my lips. Last but not least, another reason why I don’t like this lipstick. It smells like a vanilla candle. A candle people. It’s not even subtle. I’m not a fan of this lipstick’s formula which is such a shame because I absolutely love the shade Voyeur.

Overall, I was highly disappointed by this lipstick from Melt Cosmetics. I absolutely love the colour and will continue to use it for Insta looks. However, I wouldn’t recommend this lipstick to any of my readers. The formula is too dry and heavy and not flattering. Such a shame really!
Have you ever tried anything by Melt Cosmetics? What do you think of this lipstick?
Lots of love and see you soon!

  1. That’s such a bummer. It’s very pretty color too. I’ve seen this brand a few times on Insta, but never heard anything bad. Just so you know I’ve also nominated you for the Liebster Award. See my link https://wordpress.com/post/mylilsliceoflife.wordpress.com/5135

  3. I actually never seen shade like this. It is so unique and different, I see why you like it. Shame about packing and formula, when something is this expensive you really expect the best packing and performance. Lovely review as always. xx
